As I mentioned in the last post, I'll be spending most of this week (and next) at the Pfeiffer Center for Biodynamic Agriculture in Chestnut Ridge, NY. They are hosting the Carbon Farming workshops, an exciting gathering of an incredible group of farmers and researchers, who'll be sharing their diverse and valuable knowledge regarding their research and personal experience with farming in a way that makes sense for future generations, the environment, and the bottom line.
Each of the courses focuses on an important part of what is considered "profitable regenerative agriculture." If it's unclear what kind of farming that might be, it may be because it's hard to capture Carbon Farming into a single explanation...it can, and does, take many different forms. The intent, however, is what is shared by all these approaches; "to capture carbon in your farm soil to enhance productivity, increase profitability, and combat climate change."
I'm excited and surprised that the time is already here for me to attend the Perennial Agriculture course at the Carbon Farming workshops. The idea of learning from Wes Jackson and Dave Jacke is more than a little thrilling.
Be prepared for updates!
