I can't express the hilarity of it all.
The court ordered Katie, Vince and I to community service for four days. The judge, however, obviously had never worked at the park and recreational facilities, nor was he aware of the joyful simplicity of the work, or the loving people, or that we would be invited to stay at an amazing home nearby of newly discovered friends here in Mississippi.
Nor did he expect for us to take this opportunity as one of rest and relaxation, and great joy, and deep sweet breaths of spring air while we listen to singing birds and marvel at lovely trees on old streets.
This is a sorely needed break for me, and I can't help but thank the judge for his foresight into the needs of the Equality Riders.
It really is sad to be separated from the rest of our family on the bus, and unable to participate in two actions this week, but I feel that my mental and emotional sanity had suddenly been reaching a precarious position...and this is exactly what I needed to process, and find life again.
A vacation in Mississippi during the equality ride. Proof that just about anything can and Will happen on this trip.
Oh great joys... I knowingly smirk at those who try to doubt that all things can work for good.
